Close your eyes, take five deep breaths, and relax completely.
1. Know the bright side of yourself
Remind yourself that you are absolutely safe and absolutely comfortable in the secret garden of your heart. Find a quiet place to sit down and close your eyes. Another you will appear in your heart. This “you” represents your positive side, with all your strength, courage, compassion and love.
Let this radiant “you” come and sit down next to you. Hold your hand and look into your eyes.
Ask if this positive “you” will always be by your side, protecting you, and guiding you in the way forward.
Ask “you” what can you do to open your heart, release the suppressed emotions, embrace this positive “you”, thank “you” for coming to see you, and invite “you to come and be a guest in the garden of your heart.”
Open your eyes and note down what you just experienced, including everything you saw, heard and felt. What does that positive “you” look like? What was said to you?
Don’t rush, just write down everything that comes to your mind.
Use a colored paintbrush to draw a picture of that “you”. It doesn’t matter if you have never learned to draw. The level is not important. The key is to draw with your heart. Spend at least five minutes drawing.
2. Recognize your own dark side
Close your eyes again, take five deep breaths, and allow yourself to relax.
Imagine an elevator leading to the depths of your heart. Go into the elevator and press the bottom button. When the elevator door opened this time, it was a dark and dirty place outside, as bad as it could be. You can imagine a smelly garbage dump, or you can imagine a cave crawling with rats, snakes, cockroaches and spiders. In short, this is a place you least want to come to.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and relax.

When you feel comfortable and safe, let the positive you come to you again. Wait until the positive you is seated next to you, and then invite the negative you into your garden.

Give yourself enough time to write down all your thoughts in a notebook.
Take a moment later to appreciate your own courage in answering the question.
You can try this every day until you make progress.
